  1. An epidemiologist is t population as a doctor is to a patient. While a doctor is concerned with the health of one individual, an epidemiologist would concern themselves with the study of disease and its distribution within a population.

When studying the health of a population an epidemiologist would be concerned with the various rats of natality morbidity and mortality. While many of those rates have a margin of error, as epidemiologist can use them to conduct studies and determine the course of a disease through a population and provide information to help control the spread of disease.

An epidemiologist's goal of disease prevention and control has been hindered however by the fact that many people will still choose to do thins that put themselves at risk, and the economy keeps people from staying home when they are ill.
